ShelterCare's Supported Housing program continues to provide clients with housing and services to assist them with living a more independent and enriched life. Supported Housing is in need of a kind, caring individual with the knowledge and ability to provide skills training to clients with mental illness. The Skills Trainer/CA 2 will supply mental health treatment and support services to adults diagnosed with a psychiatric disability in a supportive housing setting. She/He will give a variety of services to our clients, including counseling, transport, crisis intervantion, and life skills training. The best candidate will have a passion for helping people with mental illness address their needs and achieve specific goals in their day-to-day lives.

In performing some of their basic duties, the Skills Trainer will: provide direct treatment services to adults with psychiatric disabilities; serve program participants with compassion and respect; give individual skills training and supportive counseling in weekly counseling sessions (may include transport); facilitate one or more skills training groups; provide crisis intervention as needed to all program clients; assist in goal setting and treatment planning; provide advocacy and case management for clients in accessing community resources; take part in on-call rotation; document clinical services using an electronic clinical record; and other duties as assigned.

Requires a Bachelors degree in a behavioral science OR three years full-time equivalent work. Experience in counseling.  Must be proficient in use of Windows OS, Microsoft World and possess computer skill adequate to utilize the agency electronic clinical record. Must meet eligibility requirements for Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) designation. Experience working with severe and persistently mentally ill individuals preferred. Should be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Weekly schedule: M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm. Pay rate: $14.28/hr. Competitive benefits package included.
