ShelterCare needs a caring individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of adults struggling with severe and persistent mental illness. Working as an active member of a collaborative team, the Counselor/Advocate I will provide mental health treatment and support services to adults living in a secure residential treatment setting. Day-to-day duties are varied and include providing physical care, supporting treatment in group or individual settings, socialization activities, helping with the physical operation of the facility, and other areas of support as assigned.

This is an ideal job for launching a career in the behavioral health field. The best candidate will be a responsible, independent person with strong interpersonal skills who is comfortable working in a secure residential treatment facility. Experience in mental health is preferred but we will train individuals with the right skill set and motivation. Applicants must have a current driver's license, be approved to drive agency vehicles, and pass a DHS background check. Requires a high school diploma or equivalency and computer proficiency. This is a full-time position; Wed - Sun, 7:00am - 3:30pm. $12.30/hr. plus a competitive benefits package including health insurance and paid time off.
