ShelterCare is looking for an experienced accountant with a passion to end homelessness and the drive to assume a leadership role within our organization. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will supervise a four-person team while also maintaining a hands-on role monitoring the agency's financial transactions. His or her efforts will ensure that the agency's accounting transactions are handled in a timely manner and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The daily duties for the position are challenging and varied and include:

Learn and understand the CareLogic and other billing systems, review and approve all A/P invoices, streamline and improve the journal entry process and automate where possible, streamline and improve the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process and automate where possible, maintain checklists and binders for the budget and audit to document the process and provide examples for consistency from year-to-year all companies, review, approve & post all assigned journal entries, balance and reconcile the general ledger to AP and AR subsidiary journals, drive month-end close and assist with streamlining this process, monthly GL reports to programs & correct issues before Financials are completed, assist the Controller with the preparation of financial statements and management reports, including balance sheet and income statement, assist with financial statement analysis, review and approve all assigned balance sheet reconciliations, review and approval all assigned bank reconciliation, including FBO accounts, maintain fixed assets & review/depreciation schedule, assist with preparation of agency budget (checklists, binders, and document process).

This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum of three years' experience in complex accounting and finance. Must have demonstrated ability in all aspects of financial and auditing skills and a high level of computer proficiency, including significant experience with MS Word and Excel; experience with Sage Accpac/300 preferred. Must have effective communication and supervisory skills. Candidates must pass a DHS background check, possess a current driver's license, and qualify to drive agency vehicles.
